CHARLESTON -– The firm management at Jackson Kelly is shifting as Brian R. Swiger steps into the Assistant Managing Member position.
He joins Michael D. Foster who remains the firm’s Managing Member (or CEO). Gretchen M. Callas, who had been the firm’s Assistant Managing Member since 2007, returned to her full-time practice in the litigation department.
“Gretchen was both the youngest and first female Assistant Managing Member for the firm, and her advice and insight have been invaluable to me the last three years,” said Foster. “I look forward to the opportunity to now work with Brian.
“By training, he is a litigator, but his business insight and knowledge about the fundamentals of operating a business will provide great value as the firm continues to grow and expand its role as a preeminent energy firm.”
Swiger has a regional practice with emphasis on representing clients in high risk, wrongful death and catastrophic injury litigation. His experience with regard to these matters involves coordinating initial investigations, defending federal and state regulatory investigations and serving as lead trial counsel during all phases of discovery, trial and appeal. Some of the clients he has represented include exploration and production companies operating in the natural gas industry, compressed gas, electric utility, mining and transportation companies as well as other industrial operations.
