WINFIELD — A Putnam County couple is suing another couple because of dog bites sustained when dogs came into their yard.
On Nov. 5, 2010, two large dogs owned by Derrick Paris and Amanda Paris came into the yard of Stephen L. Allison and Janet M. Allison where the Allisons’ small Yorkshire terrier, Murry, was playing, and attacked the dog, according to a complaint filed Dec. 27 in Putnam Circuit Court.
The Allisons claim when Janet Allison attempted to pick up her dog, one of the defendants’ dogs bit her.
The attack of the defendants’ dogs caused severe injuries to Murry, who was immediately taken to Kanawha Valley Animal Emergency Services for treatment, according to the suit.
The Allisons claim Janet Allison’s left hand was also injured and she was treated at Teays Valley Urgent Care on Nov. 6, 2010.
The dogs that attacked Murry have exhibited vicious behavior in the past and had attacked Murry approximately six months prior to the Nov. 5, 2010, attack, according to the suit.
The Allisons claim when they attempted to discuss the problems with the defendants, they refused to resolve the situation.
The Allisons are seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. They are being represented by Tim C. Carrico.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Phillip Stowers.
