Clarksburg woman files slip-and-fall against Walmart

Walmart e1377877667429

CLARKSBURG - A Clarksburg woman is suing over claims that unsafe conditions at a Walmart Supercenter caused her to slip and fall.

Clarksburg resident Christine Olsen-Lett filed a lawsuit on July 23 in the Circuit Court of Harrison County against Wal-Mart Stores East LP, doing business as Walmart Supercenter in the state of West Virginia, citing negligence.

Olsen-Lett says on July 26, 2011, she suffered serious injuries when she tripped and fell as she was walking down an aisle in the defendant's store at 550 Emily Drive, Clarksburg.

The accident happened because a clear liquid was present on the floor, according to the brief. The plaintiff is seeking an undetermined amount in damages.

She is being represented by Morgantown attorney Deandra Burton.

On Aug. 20, Wal-Mart Stores East removed the case to U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia in Clarksburg. The defendant claims it is "facially apparent" from Burton's complaint that the amount in question exceeds the $75,000 threshold for removal.
