CHARLESTON, W.VA. – Nick Casey, a member of Lewis Glasser Casey & Rollins, has been elected Treasurer of the American Bar Association.

Casey began a three-year term as part of the ABA's 2014 Annual Meeting in Boston. As Treasurer, Casey will serve the national association as a member or a liaison to various internal entities including the executive committee, audit committee, retirement program and endowment.

Founded in 1878, the American Bar Association is one of the world's largest voluntary professional organizations, with nearly 400,000 members and more than 3,500 internal or related entities. It is committed to serving its members, improving the legal profession, eliminating bias and enhancing diversity, and advancing the rule of law throughout the United States and around the world.

The ABA also supports the legal profession with practical resources for legal professionals and works to improve the administration of justice, accredit law schools, establish model ethical codes, and more.

"I am honored to be elected to this important leadership position with such a prominent organization as the American Bar Association,” Casey said. “Many important legal matters are facing consideration on a national basis, including ones such as privacy protections, regulatory powers, discrimination matters, civil rights and criminal justice.

“Through my role as part of the ABA's leadership team, I will help to ensure that the views of West Virginia's legal community and citizens will be considered on important policy matters that come before the ABA."

Casey has more than 35 years of legal experience in business development matters, financing and government relations. He was certified as a Certified Public Accountant in 1979. Casey earned his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.

He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, and various United States District Courts and Circuit Courts in the State of West Virginia. Casey is listed in Best Lawyers in America in government relations.

Casey is the Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress, campaigning to represent West Virginia’s 2nd District. He is former chairman of the West Virginia Democratic Party, past-president and current member of the West Virginia State Bar Association, past-president of Kanawha County Bar Association, past-president and past board member of West Virginia Bar Foundation and member of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation.

Lewis Glasser Casey & Rollins has two offices in West Virginia (Charleston and Morgantown) and one in Columbus, Ohio.
