Woman accuses nursing home of neglect

Glc riverside

CHARLESTON – A West Virginia nursing home faces a suit after allegedly negligently caring for the father of the plaintiff.

Sandra Walker, legal representative of her father James Reed, filed suit in Nov. 17 Kanawha Circuit Court against Golden Living Center-Riverside, owned by Beverly Enterprise-West Virginia Inc., and Jennifer Jeffrey, administrator.

According to the complaint, Golden Living Center did not properly care for Reed, who received serious injuries, resulting from poor care, abuse and neglect, which was a pattern. This led, the suit states, to physical deconstruction, resulting in Reed falling and hitting his head Jan. 16, 2013, and the fall led to Reed's death. The plaintiff alleges the defendants also violated nursing home regulations.

Sandra Walker is represented by attorneys Jonathan Mani and Bernard Layne of Mani, Ellis & Layne of Charleston.
