    WINFIELD – A judge has ruled against the Putnam County Board of Zoning Appeals by denying a permit that would have allowed a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market to be built in Teays Valley. Circuit Judge John Cummings on Jan. 8 overturned the permit of the board, siding with a group of residents who had fought the building of the store because they said it would create more traffic congestion and bring other issues to their neighborhood along W.Va.

    CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Human Rights Commission has found that CAMC-Teays Valley Hospital’s patient bathrooms are not compliant with the American with Disabilities Act. Charleston attorney Duane J. Ruggier II of Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe filed a complaint with the WVHRC in January, stating that, while patient rooms all have their own bathroom, none of the bathrooms are ADA compliant.

    WINFIELD – A Putnam County couple seeks compensation after the woman was injured in the restroom at a pool party. Sarah and Richard DeGroff filed a complaint against FMC Sportsman’s Club LLC in Putnam Circuit Court. In the complaint, the couple from Eleanor says Sarah DeGroff was a guest at the popular sports club that includes a pool on June 12, 2013, for a child’s birthday party.

    CHARLESTON – Two former female employees have sued a recently opened Putnam County location of a national hamburger chain for sexual harassment.
