Boonememorial

MADISON -- A Boone County physician and hospital have been named as defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Cathy A. Robinson, as the administratrix of the Estate of Angela A. Robinson, filed suit Jan. 31 in Boone Circuit Court, naming Boone Memorial Hospital Inc. and Howard Lafferty Jr. as the defendants.

According to Cathy Robinson, Angela was a patient at Boone Hospital during two visits in 2012. Both times she was treated by Lafferty. On Jan. 30, 2012, Angela Robinson was allegedly admitted to Boone Memorial with a low heart rate, she was released home without a decrease in her heart rate.

Angela Robinson returned to Boone Memorial on Feb. 1, 2012, again with an increased heart rate and symptoms consistent with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

Her condition worsened, and she died after a failed intubation attempt. Cathy Robinson is now suing, alleging Lafferty provided negligent medical treatment and she hopes to hold him and his hospital liable for damages.

Cathy Robinson is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

She is being represented by Sprague W. Hazard of the Bell Law Firm in Charleston and Paul S. Perfater and Michael L. Myers of The Perfater Law Firm in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge William S. Thompson.
