Raleigh Co. man accuses AT&T of debt harassment

BECKLEY -- A Raleigh County man is suing AT&T, claiming harassment.


George Furphy filed a lawsuit March 6 in Raleigh Circuit Court against AT&T Mobility Services LLC and Integrity Solution Services Inc., citing violations of Consumer Credit and Protection Act, Computer Crime and Abuse Act and Telephone Harassment Statute, as well as infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

Furphy claims he received multiple phone calls from the defendants in order to annoy and harass him into paying debts owed the defendant. According to the claim, the defendant tried to collect the debts due in ways which are in direct violation of several laws put into place in the state of West Virginia.

Furphy is seeking damages, attorney's fees and court costs.

He is being represented by Fayetteville attorneys Ralph C. Young, Christopher B. Frost, Steven R. Broadwater Jr. and Jed R. Nolan of Hamilton, Burgess, Young and Pollard PLLC.
