MARTINSBURG -- Martin & Seibert is pleased to announce that Lisa L. Lilly and Christopher L. LaFon have joined the firm’s litigation team.
Lilly brings more than 23 years of experience with her as a civil defense litigator, practicing in courts throughout the State of West Virginia. A Registered Nurse, Lilly focuses her practice in the areas of professional negligence, complex civil liability and litigation involving wrongful death or serious injury.
She graduated from West Virginia University School of Nursing in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and received her Juris Doctorate from West Virginia University College of Law in 1991.
As a result of her extensive legal and healthcare background, a substantial portion of Lilly’s practice involves the defense of doctors, nurses, hospitals and other healthcare providers in professional negligence actions brought under the West Virginia Medical Professional Liability Act (MPLA).
Lilly is admitted to practice before the West Virginia State Courts, the United States District Courts of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She is currently a member of the West Virginia State Bar, West Virginia Defense Trial Counsel, Defense Research Institute, The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA) and American Society of Addiction Medicine.
Lilly joins the Charleston office of Martin & Seibert, L.C.
Bringing over 14 years experience to the firm, LaFon practices primarily in the areas of insurance coverage, commercial contract disputes and general commercial litigation.
He is a graduate of William & Mary, and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Pennsylvania Law School in 2000. LaFon has drafted coverage analysis regarding many complex claims under insurance policies involving general liability and first party property.
His practice has included large-scale, complex environmental and asbestos-related insurance coverage matters, as well as smaller, more nuanced engagements involving insurance coverage issues surrounding third-party bodily injuries, construction defects, damaged telecommunications equipment, professional malpractice claims, employee theft and commercial property damage.
LaFon is admitted to practice in Virginia, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, Illinois and is currently seeking admission to the West Virginia bar upon motion.
LaFon will be based in the firm’s Martinsburg office.
Both are natives of West Virginia.
