CHARLESTON -- A Charleston doctor is being sued for medical negligence.

Jennifer N. Randolph filed suit June 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Dr. Ravindra Kumar Gogeneni.

According to the complaint, on July 30, 2011, Randolph underwent a routine mammogram which was read by Gogeneni, who recommended another routine screen the following year. The plaintiff had several tests performed in November 2012, where it was discovered she had a 1.5-centimeter mass in her left breast and she underwent a partial mastectomy Jan. 23, 2013, to remove the mass, the suit states.

After reviewing the original scans performed July 30, 2011, it became clear a mass was present at that time, but the defendant falsely read the scans as negative. Due to Gogeneni's medical negligence in reading the scans, the plaintiff had to endure pain and extensive treatment which could have been avoided if she was treated earlier, according to the suit.

Randolph is seeking compensatory damages, punitive damage and costs.

She is represented by Charleston attorneys Matthew C. Lindsay and Richard D. Lindsay of Tabor, Lindsay & Associates. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib.
