Woman says she slipped, fell on floor mat at Go-Mart

CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing after she allegedly tripped on a floor mat at a convenience store.

Leli A. Spangler filed suit June 30 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Go-Mart Inc.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 2, 2012, Spangler purchased gasoline at the defendant's convenience store in Charleston. When the plaintiff entered the store to pay for her purchase, she tripped on a rolled-up floor mat and fell, sustaining severe injuries, the suit states.

The defendant is accused of negligence due to failing to correct the dangerous condition and failing to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition.

Spangler is seeking damages to cover pain and suffering, emotional distress, limitations in her ability to perform activities, medical costs and related expenses, costs and punitive damages.

She is represented by Charleston attorneys Robert H. Miller II and Shawn R. Romano of Romano & Associates PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
