RIPLEY – A Jackson County man is suing over claims he hasn't been paid wages owed since he was laid off.

Gary A. Pursley filed a lawsuit Sept. 5 in Jackson Circuit Court against Mountaineer Wireline Corp., James Jones and John Does 1-5.

According to the complaint, Pursley was employed by Mountaineer Wireline Corp. as an operations manager until he was laid off on Sept. 27, 2013, via a text message from Jones, an officer of the company. The complaint states the company and its officers, the John Doe defendants being the remaining officers, have failed to pay Pursley his wages owed in violation of WPCA.

Pursley is seeking damages, interest and attorneys' fees.

He is being represented in the case by attorneys Todd S. Bailess and Joy B. Mega of Bailess Law Firm in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Thomas C. Evans III.
