Man blames hospital, staff for son's death

PRINCETON – A man is suing over claims his son died after hospital staff failed to timely diagnose his condition.

Greenville C. Marshall Sr., as administrator of the estate of Greenville Carson Marshall Jr., filed a lawsuit Nov. 25 in Mercer Circuit Court against Dr. Gene Bermejo Duremdes, Princeton Surgical Group Inc., and Princeton Community Hospital Association Inc.; citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 26, 2012, Greenville Carson Marshall Jr. was transferred from Welch Community Hospital to Princeton Community Hospital with complaints of abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. The complaint states Marshall came under the care of Dr. Duremdes and Princeton Community Hospital staff, who failed to timely diagnosed Marshall's condition, resulting in his suffering and, ultimately, his death. The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages, medical expenses, lost social security benefits, funeral and burial expenses, interest and attorney fees.

Marshall is represented by attorney Michael J. Del Giudice of Ciccarello, Del Giudice and Lafon in Charleston.
