Gov. Joe Manchin visits with several members of the West Virginia National Guard during his trip last week to Iraq. While in Afghanistan, Gov. Manchin raises a U.S. Flag in memory of Robert L. Harrah of Charleston at Camp Phoenix with his son, Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Harrah, a native West Virginian now serving in the Florida National Guard.

Gov. Joe Manchin spent his Easter holiday weekend with some of the bravest West Virginians around -- those men and women from the Mountain State who are serving our country in the Middle East.

Manchin began his closely guarded trip Thursday, April 13 in Washington, D.C., with classified operations and intelligence briefings at the Pentagon and State Department by high-level federal officials including Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Peter Pace, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

During this trip, the Governor traveled to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.
