State leaders join to focus on leadership learning

CHARLESTON -- Gov. Joe Manchin, Chesapeake Energy CEO Aubrey McClendon, WVU President David Hardesty and nationally prominent leadership author Dr. Richard Boyatzis contribute diverse perspectives to the program of the Fourth Annual West Virginia Leadership Conference to be held Wednesday, May 3 and Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Stonewall Resort.

"As West Virginia shapes its future, its current and future leaders must be prepared to provide the leadership necessary to meet ever-changing economic, social and technological demands of our day," says Paul Arbogast, President of the West Virginia Roundtable, a sponsor of the conference.

"This Fourth West Virginia Leadership Conference is an annual 'school for leaders' that brings leadership issues into focus for people in all walks of life –- whether they work in business, government or academia. It features dynamic best-selling author Richard Boyatzis as our keynote speaker. Dr. Boyatzis will speak on leadership principles described in his well-known book, Resonant Leadership.

I encourage you to read the book in order to maximize the impact of your attendance."

The conference also will feature breakout sessions and discussions with West Virginia leaders, each providing thoughtful commentary on their own leadership experiences.

The conference begins with lunch on Wednesday and ends with lunch on Thursday. The registration fee of $325 covers all sessions, meals and breaks and includes Richard Boyatzis' book, Resonant Leadership. Lodging is separate.
