Couple says insurance company won't reimburse for break-in

HUNTINGTON - A Cabell County couple is seeking more than $100,000 from a New York insurance company that failed to reimburse them for a break-in that occurred at their home.

In a suit filed Dec. 14, Chris and Erin Hutchinson claim they had a policy with Vigilant Insurance Co. that covered their home and its contents when they were victims of a burglary on Dec. 15, 2004.

The suit claims the couple lost $113,914 in property in the break-in and Vigilant has refused to pay any part of the loss.

Among the items stolen from the Hutchinson's home was $28,500 cash, silver, gold, platinum and diamonds valued at $17,400 and 16 gold coins worth $16,399.

The couple is seeking reimbursement for the lost property.

The case has been assigned to Judge David M. Pancake.
