Marion woman blames business, owners for injuries

MORGANTOWN - A Marion County woman blames the owners of a Morgantown establishment for her injuries after she fell at the business.

Lucy Bonasso filed a suit Feb. 21 in Monongalia County against Mo-Town Taxi, doing business as The Vintage Room, and David and Rebecca Rees.

The suit says that on March 25, 2005, Bonasso went to meet friends at The Vintage Room and was approached by her friend Maresa Kozul. Kozul "appeared to be in an intoxicated state," and went to hug Bonasso and lost her footing, the suit says.

Both women fell to the floor and were injured.

"While still on the floor trying to gather her senses, Ms. Bonasso noticed that the floor upon which she had been standing, and was now lying, was extremely wet and slippery as a result of what appeared to be the spillage of beverages by patrons within The Vintage Room establishment," the suit says.

The suit says the conduct of the defendants was negligent because they failed to maintain a dry floor and failed to discourage from Kozul from consuming more alcoholic beverages after she was already intoxicated.

Bonasso, through her counsel Timothy R. Miley, seeks compensation for her injury and medical costs.
