Va. woman sues bar, resident after being hit by drunken driver

CHARLESTON - A Virginia woman is suing a Kanawha County bar and a Kanawha County resident, claiming she was hit by a drunken driver who was given alcohol at the bar.

Rebecca S. Bostic filed a suit May 22 in Kanawha Circuit Court, against George's Lounge and Dina Strickland.

According to the suit, on Sept. 22, 2005, Strickland was given alcohol at George's Lounge. According to the suit, it is against State Code to sell alcohol to someone who is already intoxicated.

After purchasing the alcohol, Strickland allegedly got in her 2003 Ford F-150 truck to drive, and hit Bostic. According to the suit, Strickland's blood alcohol content was well above the legal limit.

Bostic was severely injured and required hospital treatment. She seeks punitive and compensatory damages against the bar and Strickland.

Attorney G. Patrick Jacobs is representing Bostic. The case has been assigned to Judge Paul Zakaib.
