Shirley Dempsey and Jarrell Dempsey v. Ohio Valley Truck Service Company, Shoney's Inc. and Shorest 1102, LLC

* Shirley Dempsey was exiting her car in a Shoney's parking lot when she allegedly tripped over a parking curb that had been painted black. She claims she sustained several injuries as a result of the fall, including a four-point proximal humerus fracture to her left shoulder. She is also suing Ohio Valley Truck Service, the owner of the property.

Jessica Mellert, individually and as natural guardian and mother of James David Mellert v. Brett E. Jarrell, M.D., Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc. and Marshall University Board of Governors

* Mellert was 2 years old when he was treated for injuries sustained during a car accident in March 2006. The suit claims Dr. Jarrell and others at Cabell Huntington Hospital were negligent in the medical treatment and care provided to Mellert and were guilty of medical malpractice. Mellert's mother is seeking compensatory damages.

Margaret Jane Smith v. Igougo Inc., Buena Vista Television Inc. and John Doe

* Smith won a trip to London during a contest on the "Live with Regis and Kelly" show. She claims certain features of the trip were rescinded including a luxury picnic in the park and dinner at the restaurant Ivy. Despite efforts to receive those portions of the trip, she was unable to do so. Smith claims she bas been damaged in an amount in excess of $50,000 due to mental anguish and emotional distress.

Joyce Horn v. Kmart Promotions LLC and John Doe Defendant 1, Employee of Kmart

* Horn was browsing for flowers at Kmart when she allegedly stepped into a defective condition in the pavement of the sidewalk. She claims she also tripped over a water hose, which caused her to fall. As a result, the suit claims Horn has been diagnosed with Dequervain's Tenosynovitis in her left wrist, Bicipital tenosynovitis, Osteoarthritis in her left thumb and Impingment Syndrome. She is seeking compensatory damages.
