PERSONNEL FILE: Third generation Bolen elected partner at Huddleston Bolen

D. Bolen

HUNTINGTON -- Huddleston Bolen has announced that attorney David Bolen has been elected to the partnership of the firm.

Bolen has been with the firm since 2001 after spending a summer in the firm's summer clerk program. He is a cousin of senior partner Richard Bolen and great nephew of the late Amos Bolen, for whom the firm is named.

Headquartering his practice in Huddleston's Huntington office, Bolen practices primarily in the area of general civil litigation defense, with an emphasis on class actions and mass torts, commercial litigation, and railroad litigation. He also has experience in appellate law and insurance law.

"From his days as a summer clerk to his new role as partner, Bolen always has made outstanding contributions to the firm and to its growth. His performance is recognized positively by his peers and his clients," said Tom Gilpin, chair of Huddleston's management committee. "This promotion to partner is very well deserved."

A native of Ashland, Ky., Bolen attended the University of Kentucky, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science in 1998. While at UK, Bolen worked as a student equipment manager for the UK men's basketball team, serving under both Rick Pitino and Tubby Smith. He remained at UK to pursue his legal education and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law in May of 2001.

Bolen is a member of the West Virginia and Kentucky Bar Associations, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, and DRI, the largest organization of defense trial lawyers in the United States.

Bolen resides in Ashland with his wife, Kristy, and daughter Mary Elizabeth. He is involved in community organizations, including the Ashland Alliance Young Professionals Association, as well as his local church organization, South Ashland United Methodist Church.

Huddleston Bolen is a law firm with more than 50 attorneys practicing in offices located in Huntington and Charleston in West Virginia and Ashland and Louisville in Kentucky. The firm, founded in 1871, represents clients in many practice groups, including banking and finance, health care, insurance, litigation, labor and employment, natural resources, real estate, and transportation.
