Insurer wants $20K from driver at fault in wreck

HUNTINGTON -- An insurance company is seeking more than $20,000 from the driver who it claims is at fault for an automobile accident.

Encompass Indemnity Company filed a July 10 in Cabell Circuit Court against Ann Adkins.

Encompass claims one of its insured drivers, Terry Triplett, was involved in an accident with Adkins on Dec. 13.

At the time, Adkins was driving her 1995 blue Chevrolet Lumina in Cabell County when she caused it to collide with Triplett's vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the accident, Triplett suffered property damages, and Encompass was forced to pay her $22,399.95, the suit states.

In addition to the money it paid to Triplett, Encompass is seeking pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Clinton W. Smith of Charleston will be representing Encompass. The case has been assigned to Judge David M. Pancake.
