Samantha Ferguson vs. Zim's Bagging Company

*Ferguson was employed at Zim's Bagging Company as a packer. According to the suit, prior to Sept. 12 other employees complained to management regarding the lack of safety and training and improper procedures regarding to the bagging machine. Other employees were also allegedly injured by the machines, according to the suit. On Sept. 12, 2007 Ferguson's hand was pulled into the conveyor belt rollers and suffered serious injuries to her fingers and hand. Ferguson claims Zim's Bagging Company knowingly and intentionally exposing her to the specific unsafe working conditions. She is suing for general and special damages.

Rick L. Chapman vs. Rite Aid of West Virginia Inc.

*Chapman was employed at Rite Aid and on Sept. 16, 2008, was terminated from his employment there. Chapman claims he was terminated, at least in part, because of his membership in a protected class and was discriminated against, according to the suit. As a result, Chapman has suffered economic harm and damages, such as lost wages, loss of past employment benefits, loss of seniority, loss of retirement opportunity, loss of future wages, loss of future employment, benefits and other various damages, according to the suit. He is suing for punitive damages.
