Asa Carson vs. Ali One Inc. d/b/a 20th Street Sunoco Food Mart and Wheeler and Clevenger Oil Company

* On Sept. 20, 2007, Carson was a customer at Sunoco Food Mart in Huntington when he was attacked by another customer, later identified as Andre Branch, according to the suit. Carson claims he was maliciously and willfully attacked and assaulted without any provocation and as a result, suffered extensive injuries to his face, and body, including a fractured nose and injuries to his back, left shoulder and teeth. Carson is suing for an amount of money to compensate him for his damages.

Leah Renee Harrison, as personal representative of the Estate of Eldon Lee Burrows vs. Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc., John Cornell, M.D.; and Charles E. Meadows III, M.D.

* Burrows was admitted to Cabell Huntington Hospital in March 24, 2007, where Cornell was the referring physician and Meadows was the consulting physician. Burrows was given a CT scan, which revealed a nodule on his lung that was reported to not be malignant and he was discharged March 27. On July 24, Burrows was again admitted to the hospital, this time for extreme pain in multiple areas of his body and during admission it was discovered that he was suffering from metastatic lung disease, which had spread to his bones, causing him extreme pain and suffering. He died July 30. Harrison is suing for negligence and wrongful death for all damages allowable under West Virginia law and punitive damages.

Ronda C. Brown, administratrix of the Estate of Jean Ferguson vs. Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc.

* Ferguson was admitted to Cabell Huntington Hospital on Aug. 20, 2007, to undergo heart ablation and pacemaker implantation. According to the suit, employees of the hospital allegedly carelessly failed to properly monitor Ferguson's while she was in the catherization lab and failed to observe that she went without a heart rate for three minutes. Brown claims Ferguson suffered conscious pain, extreme mental anxiety and horror until her death on Sept. 15. Brown claims Ferguson's estate has incurred approximately $200,000 in medical expenses and $10,000 in funeral expenses. She is suing for a sum to reasonably compensate for past, present and future damages and injuries.
