Man's estate sues company, driver for negligence

WAYNE -- A woman is suing Gelco Corporation and an employee of the company for negligence.

Brenda Doss is in charge of the Estate of Dallas Ray Blankenship, who died Jan. 12, according to a complaint filed Sept. 23 in the Wayne Circuit Court.

On Sept. 24, 2007, Blankenship was involved in an automobile accident where he was rear-ended by Benjamin Brabbin, an employee of Gelco Corporation.

Doss claims Brabbin negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, followed too closely, failed to maintain a safe and reasonable speed and failed to properly maintain control of his vehicle, which caused injury to Blankenship in various parts of his body.

According to the suit, as a direct and proximate result of Brabbin and Gelco Corporation's negligence, Blankenship suffered permanent injuries; medical expenses; pain and suffering; physical and mental anguish; and annoyance, aggravation and inconvenience until his death.

Doss is suing for compensatory damages suffered by Blankenship. She is being represented by Greg K. Smith.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Darrell Pratt.
