CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing a Charleston neurologist for the death of her husband.
On Feb. 22, 2009, Henry Cline was admitted to Charleston Area Medical Center under Dr. Kiren Jean Kresa-Reahl's care after complaints of a headache, followed by sudden onset right-sided weakness and paralysis and the inability to speak, according to a complaint filed Oct. 29 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Loretta Cline claims Kresa-Reahl was consulted by telephone, but did not come to the hospital to evaluate Mr. Cline.
According to the suit, Kresa-Reahl did not think Mr. Cline was a candidate for thrombolytic therapy, based on his use of radiation seeding to treat prostate cancer in 2007.
Mr. Cline's condition deteriorated and he died Feb. 23, 2009.
Mrs. Cline claims she and Mr. Cline did not receive adequate information regarding treatment options. She claims Kresa-Reahl failed to advise them of the option of thrombolytic treatment of his stroke.
Mrs. Cline is suing for compensatory and punitive damages for medical malpractice. Richard D. Lindsay and Matthew C. Lindsay of Tabor Lindsay & Associates are representing her.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
