HUNTINGTON -- A man is suing three Huntington physicians for medical malpractice after he claims they failed to properly diagnose him.

William Todd Gibson was a patient of three Huntington physicians from Nov. 27 until Dec. 10, 2007, according to a complaint filed Nov. 19 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Gibson claims Dr. Ronald D. Bowe, an internal medicine physician; Dr. Allen J. Holmes, an emergency medicine physican; and Dr. Tamra Aman, an osteopathic physician, all disregarded the signs of his developing neurological impairment.

According to the suit, Gibson visited Bowe on Nov. 27, Aman on Nov. 29 and Holmes on Dec. 10.

Gibson claims he was required to undergo additional care and was otherwise injured, suffered great pain of body and mind, was caused to incur medical expenses, was caused to lose the normal enjoyment of life and was caused to change his lifestyle due to his injuries.

According to the suit, the physicians negligently failed to obtain an emergent MRI of the cervical thoracic and lumbar spine, an immediate evaluation by a neurosurgeon, immediate measures to reduce swelling around the spinal cord, failed to admit Gibson to the hospital or transfer him to a neurosurgical center capable of emergency MRI imaging and emergency neurosurgical therapy.

Gibson is suing for compensatory damages for his injuries. Donald C. Wandling, Douglas Witten and Robert B. Kuenzel of Avis, Witten & Wandling are representing him.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
