WAYNE -- A man is suing McDonald's after he discovered a large bone in a chicken nugget.
On Nov. 11, 2007, Steven Carter went to McDonalds in Wayne County, ordered Chicken McNuggets and unknowingly bit into a nugget that contained a large bone, causing extreme damages to his teeth, according to a complaint filed Nov. 12 in Wayne Circuit Court.
Carter claims McDonald's advertises the chicken nuggets as boneless and the company failed to properly insure that the McNugget was boneless, which caused him to incur substantial injuries, pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment.
According to the suit, McDonald's had a duty to insure that the chicken nuggets were safe for human consumption and failed to do so. Carter claims McDonald's was negligent in failing to warn him and for failing to inspect the chicken nuggets.
Carter is seeking compensatory and punitive damages for his injuries; physical pain and suffering; and loss of enjoyment of life.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James H. Young Jr.
