Hunter
CHARLESTON -– AARP West Virginia State Director Gaylene Miller has announced the appointment of Tom Hunter to serve as Associate State Director of Communications for AARP West Virginia.
Since 2007, Hunter has served as Deputy Director/Director of Communications for the Ohio Department of Public Safety in Columbus, Ohio. Hunter previously served in communications/media relations positions with the late Gov. Cecil H. Underwood (Assistant Press Secretary, 1998–2001) and Gov. Joe Manchin III (Press Secretary, 2005–2007) during a decade of public service with the State of West Virginia.
Hunter will be responsible for the development and implementation of AARP's communications strategies, serving nearly 300,000 members in West Virginia.

"Much of my life has been devoted to public service, and it is an honor to return home to the Mountain State and work with a dedicated team of professionals, stakeholders and volunteers who are deeply committed to enhancing and improving the quality of life for all West Virginians."
Hunter also previously served as a Communications and Government Affairs Specialist with Marshall University. He will join the AARP West Virginia state team May 17.
