Woman sues man over injuries at Imperial Lanes

HUNTINGTON -- A woman is suing a man after she was injured at Imperial Lanes Bowling Alley.

On July 13, 2009, Gaila Damron was a non-trespassing entrant of Imperial Lanes and was helping Peter Berlt move items from his car and into the bowling alley that he was selling, according to a complaint filed Aug. 13 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Damron claims while she was walking through an inadequate and unlit area of the building, she stepped on an exposed board with a rusty nail, which entered the bottom of her right foot.

Berlt was responsible for the inspection and/or maintenance and/or care of the bowling alley, including the walkways and floor areas, according to the suit.

The defendant "failed to inspect the floor of the bowling alley walkways and thereby failed to discover and remove and/or repair dangerous and defective conditions ...," according to the suit.

Damron is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Roger L. Lambert.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
