PERSONNEL FILE: Davis joins Steptoe & Johnson

BRIDGEPORT -- Steptoe & Johnson welcomes Cheryl L. Davis, of counsel, to the firm. Davis joins the firm's energy team, concentrating in the area of oil and gas law.

A graduate of West Virginia University (B.A.), and the West Virginia University College of Law, Davis' experience includes 18 years of legal practice enhanced by more than a decade of corporate management emphasizing contract and transactional negotiations, oil and gas, real estate, purchasing, procurement and operations.

Formerly Senior Counsel and the Manager of Asset Management for Columbia Gas Transmission, LLC, Davis was responsible for negotiating subleases of Marcellus shale production rights. Davis also managed transfers to partnerships of leases, wells, and production lines to facilitate the operation of a newly developed natural gas storage field and transmission pipeline project.

Davis is extensively involved in community activities, volunteering on behalf of Covenant House, Roark Sullivan Life Way Center, Sojourners Shelter, Christmas in April, Heart and Hand House, Manna Meal, and College Summit. Davis has participated in several mission trips, including intensive on-site rebuilding activities in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina and a program for troubled teens in the United Kingdom.
