CHARLESTON -- A couple is suing Benchmark Conference Centers of West Virginia for work-related injuries that occurred at the Stonewall Resort and Conference Center.
Benchmark Hospitality, Inc. d/b/a Benchmark Hospitality International; and West Virginia Department of Commerce, Division of Natural Resources, were also named as defendants in the suit.
On April 7, 2009, Philip Robbins was employed by the defendant as an electrician and was told by a supervisor to change a light bulb in the pool area, which required the use of an extension ladder, according to a complaint filed April 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Robbins claims when he climbed the ladder and touched the light bulb, he was shocked and fell approximately 20 feet to a concrete area and was injured.
As a result of the fall, Robbins suffered a debilitating injury to his foot and ankle, as well as injuring other parts of his body, according to the suit.
Robbins claims the defendants breached their duty to provide property safety policies and procedures.
Robbins and his wife, Brittney Robbins, are seeking judgment against the defendants for all damages that are recoverable. They are being represented by David A. Sims and Adam L. McCoy.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.
