Woman says she was injured at LeGrand Hair Salon

CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing LeGrand Hair Salon after she tripped on uneven mats in the salon.

On Feb. 12, 2010, Mildred McHenry was a patron at the beauty salon when she fell on the ground after attempting to walk on uneven mats, which were placed on the ground by the defendant, according to a complaint filed Feb. 13 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

McHenry claims the defendant placed mats on the floor with ends that were not flush.

The consequence was that it made the surface uneven and caused McHenry to trip and fall, according to the suit.

McHenry claims she sustained injuries, including a broken hip and a skinned elbow.

As a result of the unsafe conditions in the establishment, McHenry had to have surgery, medications, rehabilitation and physical therapy, according to the suit.

McHenry is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by Cynthia E. Evans.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
