Man sues individual for trespassing, destroying property

HUNTINGTON -- A Huntington man is suing an individual he claims trespassed onto his property and destroyed approximately 200 tons of dirt and other valuable commodities he owned.

Roger Bartram is the owner of Sand Gravel Rock Dirty Mulch, a business located at 1000 14th Street West in Huntington, according to a complaint filed May 3 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Bartram claims on Jan. 21, Ray Blankenship entered onto his property and negligently destroyed and/or disposed of approximately 200 tons of dirt and other valuable commodities he owned.

Prior to the incident, Bartram had warned Blankenship not to enter onto his business premises, according to the suit.

Bartram claims the defendant's actions caused him property damage and financial damage in loss of inventory and profits.

Blankenship trespassed onto Bartram's property and intentionally entered onto the property for the purposes of intentionally destroying Bartram's property, according to the suit.

Bartram is seeking judgment in the amount of $5,000 and for the court to make an order prohibiting Blankenship from entering his property or having any contact with him. He is being represented by R. Matthew Vital.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
