CHARLESTON -- A Walker, W.Va., couple is suing 114 companies they claim are responsible for a lung cancer diagnosis.
In January, James L. Van Camp Sr. was diagnosed with lung cancer, according to a complaint filed May 21 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Van Camp and his wife, Carol Sue Van Camp claim the 114 defendants exposed him to asbestos during his career as an insulator from 1954 until 1996.
The defendants are being sued based on theories of negligence, contaminated buildings, breach of expressed/implied warranty, strict liability, intentional tort, conspiracy, misrepresentation and post-sale duty to warn, according to the suit.
The Van Camps are seeking a jury trial to resolve all issues involved. They are being represented by Craig E. Coleman.
The case has been assigned to a visiting judge.
