Man says Charter Foods violated wage payment act

CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing Charter Foods, Inc., after he claims the company failed to pay his final wages in a timely manner.

Brent Sullins was employed by Charter Foods from Dec. 28, 2011, until Jan. 11, according to a complaint filed June 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Sullins claims the defendant failed to pay his final wages within 72 hours of discharge.

The defendant's actions violated the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act, according to the suit.

Sullins is seeking compensatory and liquidated damages. He is being represented by J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson, George B. Morrone III and G. Patrick Jacobs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
