CHARLESTON – Lewis Glasser Casey & Rollins PLLC has hired Heather R. Bates to expand the law firm’s capabilities for its growing natural gas practice.

Bates focuses on a wide range of legal services (title, deeds, leases, joint-operating agreements, etc.) to oil and natural gas clients.

Prior to joining the law firm, Bates worked for CONSOL Energy, Inc. where she analyzed, reviewed and drafted various oil and gas documents, such as title opinions, drilling opinions, deeds, leases, pooling agreements, farm-in agreements and joint operating agreements for horizontal drilling operations in the Appalachian Basin.

Bates earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography, cum laude, from West Virginia University in 2003 and earned her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from West Virginia University College of Law in 2008. She is admitted to practice law in the state of West Virginia.

“As one of the premier energy law firms in the Appalachian Basin, we are continuing to expand our attorney capabilities in order to meet client needs,” said Nick Casey, managing member. “Heather’s background will provide our natural gas and energy clients with added legal resources for complex title, deed or pooling matters.”

Casey noted that over the past two years, Lewis Glasser has expanded its legal capabilities significantly with the addition of several new attorneys, many of whom are part of the firm’s growing natural gas and energy practice.

“Lewis Glasser prides itself not only on delivering superior client service, but also in providing forward-looking, personal, and results-oriented attorney-client advice," Casey said. "We have an outstanding team now in three locations…and we will grow that team to ensure we deliver a high level of service and counsel.”

Lewis Glasser has been representing clients for more than 40 years in the areas of energy, business transactions, litigation, commercial transactions and finance, health care, corporate bankruptcy and alternative dispute resolution.

Lewis Glasser was selected as a Preeminent Law Firm by Martindale-Hubbell, one of the few West Virginia firms to achieve this status. Lewis Glasser has also received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating and has attorneys listed as SuperLawyers and Best Lawyers for oil/natural gas and energy/natural resources work.

The firm also maintains an active government relations practice representing natural gas clients, among others, before the West Virginia Legislature and in Washington, D.C. The government relations practice is LGCR Government Solutions, LLC.
