WHEELING -- A major convenience store chain is facing a class action for allegedly not paying ex-employees their final pay quickly enough.
Tammy Chamberlain, Juanita Gray and other employees filed a class action complaint June 1 in Ohio Circuit Court against 7-Eleven Inc. and 7-Eleven Sales Corp.
Chamberlain worked for 7-Eleven until she quit on July 18, 2014. Gray worked for the defendants until she was terminated on April 15, 2015.
"Consistent with the defendants' pay practices," the lawsuit states, "they failed to pay [both women and others] all [their] employment wages due within the time period mandated" by the Wage Payment and Collection Act.
Gray didn't receive her final pay until April 23, 2015.
The plaintiffs are asking the court to declare this case an official class action and to reward unspecified damages to class members, as well as injunctive relief, attorneys' fees and court costs.
