CHARLESTON– A Charleston man is seeking compensation after he was allegedly assaulted in a Rite Aid by a security guard.
Gary Slater filed suit on Aug. 14 in Kanawha Circuit Court, against Security Group Services LLC and Rite Aid Headquarters Corp.
According to the complaint, Slater was at at Rite Aid location at 1719 W. Washington St., on July 12, 2014, when an employee of Security Group Services allegedly punched him and caused him to fall and become injured.
Salter cites negligence on the behalf of both Rite Aid and Security Group Services for allegedly failing to properly train their employees and for allegedly failing to maintain a safe place for customers. In addition, the plaintiff cites present and future injuries; past, present and future medical expenses; mental anguish; pain and suffering; annoyance; inconvenience; loss of enjoyment of life; and loss of income and earning capacity.
The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages in an amount to be determined by a jury, plus interest, court costs and attorney fees. The plaintiff seeks a trial by jury.
The plaintiff is being represented by G. Patrick Jacobs of The Law Office of G. Patrick Jacobs of Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
