WHEELING — An Ohio man is suing Wheeling Island Hotel Casino for injuries he allegedly suffered from slipping and falling on the premises.

Gary Gordon filed a lawsuit Feb. 4 in Ohio Circuit Court against Wheeling Island Gaming Inc., doing business as Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Gordon was at the casino at 1 S. Stone St. in Wheeling on Feb. 7, 2014, when he slipped on an icy patch in the parking lot. Blaming the casino for failing to keep the walkway safe for its customers, the suit says Gordon suffered a torn rotator cuff, limited motion in his left shoulder and other permanent injuries. The plaintiff claims his wounds have diminished his capacity to work and enjoy a normal life and caused him to incur medical expenses.

Gordon seeks a jury trial and compensation in an amount to be determined at trial. He is represented by Wheeling attorney Gerasimos Sklavounakis.

Judge James P. Mazzone has been assigned to the case.
