CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County man says his wife, who later died, was injured when an automatic door at a Home Depot in Charleston closed on her.
Harold E. Mynhier, executor of the estate of Twila Faye Mynhier (deceased), filed a lawsuit in Kanawha Circuit Court against Home Depot USA Inc., alleging negligence and premises liability.
According to the complaint, Twila Mynhier was a Home Depot customer on April 2, 2014, when the automatic door closed on her as she exited. As a result, the suit says, Mynhier fell and was injured. On Oct. 8, 2014, the suit says, she died.
The plaintiff claims Home Depot was not only negligent in failing to post warning or caution signs around its doors, but it also failed to keep the doors in proper working order, causing Twila Mynhier’s injuries.
Harold Mynhier seeks a jury trial and general and special compensatory damages in an amount to be determined at trial, plus interest and litigation costs. He is represented by Charleston attorney G. Patrick Jacobs of the Law Office of G. Patrick Jacobs.
Judge James C. Stucky is assigned to the case.
