CHARLESTON – A Clendenin woman alleges she was injured at a medical center because of an unsecured mat.
Wandalene F. Connell filed a complaint on May 16 in the Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Area Medical Center Inc., doing business as CAMC Memorial Hospital, alleging that the hospital operator failed to maintain its premises in a safe condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 15, 2015, she was caused to fall and be severely injured when she tripped on the mat, for which necessary medical expenses exceeded $7,972.74. She alleges her injuries are permanent and lasting in nature and will in the future be caused to incur medical related expenses and will be caused to suffer great pain of body and mind, loss of enjoyment of life and other disabilities and impairments.
The plaintiff holds Charleston Area Medical Center Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly wrongfully placed an unsecured mat on the entryway of the hospital, failed to inspect its premises for the unsafe and dangerous condition, and failed to warn invitees of this unsafe and dangerous condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for compensatory damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and costs. She is represented by Charles M. Love IV of The Love Law Firm PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Judge James C. Stucky.
