Driver claims damages as result of being hit by truck

BECKLEY — A motorist is suing truck driver Willie Earl Hunt and truck owner Crane Transport Inc., alleging that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Danny Lockhart Jr. filed a complaint on July 19 in Raleigh Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that Hunt negligently operated the tractor-trailer owned by Crane Transport.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 5, 2015, his car was rear-ended by the truck driven by Hunt. As a direct and proximate result, the suit says, the plaintiff sustain serious compensable injuries, both physical and emotional. He was caused to suffer medical expenses, pain and suffering, annoyance, inconvenience and lost wages, the suit alleges. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for Hunt's alleged failure to keep a proper lookout and ,maintain control of the truck.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages to which to which he is legally entitled and such other relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by David A. Kirkpatrick of Kirkpatrick Law Office in Beckley.
