Harden C. Workman was employed by CSX and from May 2000 until January 2015, he was exposed to excessive and harmful cumulative trauma to his hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders due to the equipment and methods with which he performed his work for the defendants, as well as carpal tunnel syndrome and breathing and hearing problems due to the conditions under which he worked, according to a complaint filed July 28 in Wayne Circuit Court.
Workman claims he discovered the occupationally-caused cumulative trauma disorders and that the injuries and disabilities he has were caused by exposure to excessive repetitive trauma to his hands, wrists and arms while working for the defendant.
The plaintiff’s breathing problems were caused by repeated exposure to workplace environmental hazards, while his hearing problems were caused by repeated exposure to loud noises at work, according to the suit.
Workman is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by Kenneth P. Hicks and D. Geoffrey Varney of Kenneth P. Hicks LC.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Darrell Pratt.
