Property owner alleges demolition contractors failed to do proper work

NEW CUMBERLAND — A New Cumberland property owner is suing Pennsylvania demolition contractors, alleging they cost the plaintiff more than $21,000.

Ronald J. Cross filed a lawsuit Sept. 9 in Hancock Circuit Court against Ralph Unis and Joan Unis, individually and doing business as Unis Demolition Company of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, alleging failure to comply with their contractual obligations.

According to the complaint, Cross entered into a contract with Unis Demolition to remove all dirt and topsoil from a building on 108 Chester St., New Cumberland to remove all if any asbestos and to properly dispose all other waste materials. The suit says the defendants' failure to complete the project, caused suffer remediation expenses of $21,400, loss of use of the premises and lost business opportunities. 

The plaintiff alleges Unis Demolition fraudulently removed valuable scrap and metals from the property and failed to complete the contracted work.

Cross seeks trial by jury and damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court. He is represented by attorney Michael Edward Nogay of Sellitti, Nogay & McCune PLLC in Weirton.
