BECKLEY — A Beaver man is suing Beckley nursing home facilities, alleging their negligence led to the death of the plaintiff's father.

Larry Mickis, as personal representative of the estate of Paul Mickis, filed a lawsuit on Sept. 22 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Reparian Investments LLC, doing business as Harper Mills LLC and Stonerise Healthcare LLC, alleging they failed to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, during Paul Mickis' residency at the defendants' Harper Mills nursing facility, he suffered a fall Sept. 13, 2015. The suit says this resulted in lacerations, progressive worsening of pressure-related skin injuries and ultimately death Nov. 23, 2015.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly train and supervise their employees and agents, failed to monitor and asses Paul Mickis' condition and failed to provide adequate safety devices.

Larry Mickis seeks trial by jury, all damages allowed by law, attorney fees, court costs, and all other relief the court deems fit. He is represented by attorneys Andrew L. Paternostro, Jeff D. Stewart and Shayla M. Rigsby of The Bell Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
