BECKLEY – A Logan man alleges he was wrongfully terminated from his position as a dispatcher for a coal company because of his involvement in an investigation.
Jason K. Stratton filed a complaint on Nov. 16 in the Raleigh Circuit Court against Arch Coal Inc., Mingo Logan Coal Co. and Arch Coal Group LLC alleging wrongful terminated, retaliatory discharge, civil conspiracy/fraud and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 29, 2016, he was wrongfully terminated from his employment with Arch Coal. As a result, he alleges he has suffered and will continue to suffer economic and non-economic damages. The plaintiff holds Arch Coal Inc., Mingo Logan Coal Co. and Arch Coal Group LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly conspired together to deprive him of his employment in retaliation for cooperating with the FBI investigation regarding an alleged pay-for-play scheme at Mingo Loan Coal's Mountain Laurel complex.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, for compensatory and punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other just and proper relief.
