CHARLESTON — A former employee is suing a South Charleston corporation, alleging age discrimination.

Sherry L. Morrison of Kanwha County filed a lawsuit Dec. 16 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Providence Enterprises LLC,  alleging violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 28, 2016, Morrison was discharged from her employment at Providence. The suit says she suffered loss of future income and other related benefits, emotional distress, embarrassment and mental anguish.

The plaintiff alleges Providence Enterprises subjected her to discrimination and termination because she was 61.

Morrison seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, reinstatement to former employment or front pay, attorney fees and court costs and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys J. Michael Ranson and Cynthia M. Ranson of Ranson Law Offices in Charleston, and by G. Patrick Jacobs of Jacobs Law Office in Charleston.
