CHARLESTON — A resident is suing operators of a Charleston skilled nursing facility, alleging their negligence led to injuries to the plaintiff.
Bertha Wilson filed a complaint Feb. 2 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center, Harrell Memorial Nursing Home, Inc., Kimberly Toney, et al, alleging they failed to provide appropriate oversight, management and control in operating their nursing home facility.
According to the complaint, between Feb. 13-April 21, 2016, Wilson was a resident at Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center in Charleston. During her residency, the suit says, she sustained catastrophic injuries resulting in physical and mental pain, disfigurement, deterioration of health and physical condition and significant medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate hygiene and sanitary care and failed to provide a safe environment free from abuse and neglect.
Wilson seeks trial by jury, compensatory, special and punitive damages, plus costs of court and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys James B. McHugh, Michael J. Fuller, D.
