CHARLESTON — A former correctional officer is suing West Virginia Regional Jail Correctional Facility Authority and some of its employees, alleging a hostile work environment, sexual harassment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The unnamed plaintiff filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against the defendants, including employees Michael Ranson, Ashley Ranson and Stephen Tucker, alleging that they violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, as a result of defendants' actions, she has suffered lost wages, humiliation, embarrassment, severe emotional distress and loss of dignity. The plaintiff holds the authority, Michael Ranson, Ashley Ranson, Tucker and others responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected her to a hostile work environment, battery, sexual assault and harassment, intimidation and retaliation.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, interest, expenses and other relief. She is represented by Paul M. Stroebel of Stroebel & Johnson PLLC in Charleston.
