WHEELING — A Wheeling property owner is suing an Ohio County village, alleging negligence in managing the property and causing damages.
Cynthia Becker filed a complaint March 10 in Ohio Circuit Court against the village of Bethlehem, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care when it improperly constructed, reconstructed, repaired and maintained water lines and sewage lines.
According to the complaint, on March 17, 2016, Becker's home suffered damage due to the substantial increase in amounts of water in the sewage and drainage lines of the property.
As a result, Becker says she has suffered emotional distress, inconvenience and loss of use of her home.
The plaintiff alleges the village of Bethlehem failed to warn, advise or alert Becker of the dangerous, unsafe and hazardous condition, failed to adequately supervise, educate, test, train, instruct and examine personnel who were entrusted with construction of the sewage lines and failed to monitor the water or sewage lines and drainage that were in an unsafe, dangerous condition.
Becker seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages, losses, cost of repair of her property, plus interest and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Ronald M. Zavolta and Jordan M. Laird of Zavolta Law Office in Wheeling.
